Catskill Central School Friends of Rachel Club advisors have been asked by Darrell Scott, the founder of Rachel's Challenge, to attend the Rachel's Challenge Summit for Educators in Colorado from June 23-June26. Kimberly Bushane and Colleen Clancey from the Catskill Central School District were invited as a result of the success on their Truck Day project, which benefits Shriners Hospital for Children. Truck Day partnered the schools, businesses, community members, and Rachel's Challenge.
Catskill’s “Friends of Rachel Club” filled two pick up trucks with more than 2.5 million aluminium tabs. The local group have been collecting and storing the tabs all year in homes, classrooms and basements. The can tops are recycled and Shriner’s Hospital is given cash for the tabs.
On Saturday, May 22nd, Catskill Central School's Friends of Rachel Club, along with their advisors, Kimberly Bushane and Colleen Clancy, hosted the 2nd annual Truck Day.
The event is a collaboration of students, parents, teachers, administrators, area schools, businesses, Rachel's Challenge headquarter's, and community members from as far away as Puerto Rico, California and many others.

CHS 2010 winners of the American High School Mathematics Competition
Catskill High School is proud to announce the 2010 winners of the American High School Mathematics Competition. Senior Joe DiStefano earned the highest score for the AMC-12. Fellow seniors, Brandon Knoll and David Weber also earned special team member status for their top score on the AMC-12. Sophomore Jordan Bulich earned the highest score on the AMC-10 exam.
The contest, which covers high school mathematics, is given in participating schools. Its purpose is to spur interest in mathematics and develop talent through the excitement of friendly competition at problem solving in a timed format. In 2009, over 220,000 students from 4,200 schools participated in the AMC10 & AMC12 contest.
