CHS Cat Takes 3rd at Gala, Rakes in Cash for Community

Window into the Catskills with it third place ribbonCongratulations to our students!

Catskill High School students should be very proud of the “Window into the Catskills” cat they designed. It took third place for “Most Artistic” at the annual Cat’n Around Catskill Gala, held September 23 to auction off the cats displayed around town throughout the summer. Proceeds from the auction help to support the community.

It was so nice to have our superintendent, Dr. Cook, attend the gala to support our students and the community, as this a highly anticipated event each year. Both Dr. Cook and Mrs. Doney, Catskill High School’s art teacher, attended the auction alongside CHS cats being auctioned offmany Catskill families, as well as people from all over who may have a special connection to the area.

The “Window into the Catskills” cat, which involved over 50 students in its design and creation, sold for $1100 and will now “live” in Atlanta, Georgia with its new owner.

As a school, we look forward to seeing what our students will design for next year’s Cat’n Around Catskill’s celebration and hope as many, if not more, students will get involved!
