Catskill art teacher Wendy Doney took CHS art students on a trip to tour the “Centennial: She” exhibit at the Greene County Council on the Arts Gallery, located on Main Street in Catskill. The show was a compilation of artwork celebrating the 100-year anniversary of women gaining the right to vote in New York, and also explored the relationship between the suffrage movement and women’s rights in general, as well as other civil rights movements that appeared later in this country. Following their gallery tour on November 4, the students applied the experience to their own artwork, part of a larger class project that the field trip tied in with.
