Catskill Central School District’s Media Camp will host its annual Summer Film Festival at the Community Theatre on Main Street, Catskill on Wednesday, August 1 at 4:30 p.m. (doors open at 4:00 p.m.) Admission is free. The screening of student short films is the culminating event of a month-long digital media adventure.
Throughout July, 50 students from 5th grade up through high school are participating in the Media Camp, during which time they write, develop, shoot, and edit their own short films using the school’s digital video equipment and state-of-the-art media production studio.
Broadcast news production is also a focus of the camp, with the campers producing a weekly video news show “Cat Chat” that highlights events and happenings around the school district. You can view “Cat Chat” anytime this summer on our website’s homepage or click on the video below.
Catskill’s Media Camp is taught by fourth grade teacher Matt Luvera, sixth grade teacher Bill Maouris, and high school business teacher Patrick Hernandez, with help from student interns from the high school.
