Our Santa’s Helpers were busy as elves the Wednesday before the holiday break, packing hundreds of bags of groceries for local families in need this holiday season.
The Santa’s Helpers program in sponsored by the Student Government and has been a Catskill High School tradition for six decades. This year, over thirty-five student volunteers participated in this annual event. In mid-November, these Santa’s Helpers went out into the community and collected nearly $9,800 in donations. With the money the students raised, they were able to provide 60 families with one week’s worth of healthy meals. The big day was December 19, on which the students spent several hours sorting all the groceries they purchases into care packages for families to pick up in person that day or for delivery. Cats can and Cats will – happy holidays!
