Catskill Middle School’s annual Scripps Spelling Bee was a magical way to start 2019! Of our 25 contestants this year, defending champion Karsen Chiminelli placed first by spelling the winning word “galleon.” This marks her 5th year in a row as a school champion! Karsen will compete at the Capital Region Spelling Bee held March 5th (rescheduled from February 13th) at Proctors Theatre in Schenectady.
8th grader Charlotte DuBois came in second place, followed by fellow 8th grader Olivia Mentessi in third place. Great job, ladies!
Our top finishing 7th grader was Dominic Lanuto and our top finishing 6th grader was Brody Haggerty.
Congratulations to our top finishers.
Update: Karsen placed a respectable 12th at the Capital Region Spelling Bee at Proctors. Congrats Karsen!
