In a spelling showdown that took 19 rounds and 160 words to decide, 5th grader Samuel Kubicek became Catskill Elementary School’s Spelling Champion for the second year in a row. The CES Spelling Bee took place December 18, during which Sam rounded up the 2019 title by correctly spelling “shepherd” to edge out fourth grader and runner-up Iana Browne. As our winner, Sam will represent CES at the Capital Region Spelling Bee taking place in February at Proctors Theatre in Schenectady! Congratulations Sam, Iana, and all our Spelling Bee finalists.
