Important Letter from Dr. Cook- Half Day of School for Students-Monday, March 16, 2020

March 13, 2020

Dear Catskill CSD Parents / Guardian,

The health and safety of the school district community remains our highest priority.  As I pen this letter, there are no confirmed cases of COVID-19, the novel coronavirus, in our district. This was confirmed by my 10:30am phone conference with a representative from the Greene County Department of Public Health. Nevertheless, I firmly believe that advanced notification, preparation and transparency are elements of necessity in circumstances of this nature.

There is a need to develop contingency plans for continued learning for our students in the event of an emergency district closing for two weeks or less. In order to plan for continued learning, our teachers need time to prepare materials and information to provide to students and families. As a result, Monday, March 16, 2020 will be a half day of school for students. Our secondary (CMS / CHS) students will be dismissed at 10:30AM, while our elementary students will be dismissed at 11:30AM.  Please note that our goal is to provide materials and activities that are accessible to all students, regardless of their access to technology.

We recognize this may cause an inconvenience for your family, but our primary concern is the health and wellness of all students and staff. Our custodial team is continuously disinfecting frequently touched surfaces throughout our schools and as a district we continue to educate our children about proper hand washing, coughing techniques, and overall germ management.

At this time, the Catskill Central School District will remain open, but the following events have been postponed until further notice:
