Monday, March 16, 2020 (Updated March 17)
Dear CES Families,
As you know, Tuesday, March 17, 2020, is a half day of school for students. CHS will dismiss at 10:30 am and all afternoon activities are cancelled. All CCSD schools will be closed beginning Wednesday, March 18, 2020, and extending through Wednesday, April 1, 2020. No after-school activities or athletic events will occur while school is closed.
While I understand that this extended period of school cancellation may cause difficulty for your family, our primary concern is the health and wellness of all students, families, and school staff. Every family has a unique situation. If you choose to keep your child out of school on Tuesday, their absence will be excused.
Our teachers have prepared classwork packets for each student, with activities that are accessible with or without access to technology. If you do not send your child to school tomorrow, their packet will be available for pickup in front of CES from 12 to 3 pm on Tuesday, March 17th. If this time is inconvenient for you, please call the Main Office at 518-943-0574 to arrange an alternate pickup time. Packets for each grade level will also be available to download and print from our website.
Meal distribution for any CES family who needs support will be available every weekday while classes are cancelled, beginning on Wednesday, March 18th. Below, you’ll find food distribution locations and times. Please use whichever location works best work you.
As more information becomes available regarding NYS Assessments, Spring Recess, and other concerns, we will quickly update you. Our situation will be revisited every five days by the school board, local government and health department. I encourage you to stay informed by checking our website often and watching for communication by email or phone. We will inform you directly if we learn of a confirmed COVID-19 case in our schools. Throughout the period of school cancellation, our custodial team will work to ensure that every surface at CES is clean, sanitized and safe.
Dr. Cook and I will continue to do our utmost to provide you with up-to-date information and support during this unprecedented time. Thank you for your continued patience and partnership as we work through this crisis together.
Sincerely,
John Rivers, Principal
