In early March, the students in the High School Art Club went on a walking field trip to the Greene County Council on the Arts on Main St. to see the show “After the Storm” by Kristen DeFontes.
The students got a tour and a chance to see the exhibit and engage in a discussion with the curator, Mauve McCool from GCCA. Experiencing the artist’s vision through her work, which was inspired by the damage caused by Hurricane Irene, the students gained an appreciation for the emotional aspect of it and had many great questions and insights to offer. After they perused the gallery, the students took part in an art activity that correlated to the works in the show.
