Important Information from Dr. Cook- January 8, 2021: Continuation of Remote Instruction for the Week of January 11-15, 2021

January 8, 2021

Dear Catskill CSD Community,

Out of an abundance of caution and under the advice of representatives from the Greene County Department of Public Health, all District schools will continue with remote (virtual) instruction for the week of January 11-15, 2021. Again, there will be no in-person hybrid instruction. As of Thursday, January 7, 2021, the County’s seven (7) day rolling positive rate is 11.6 percent. Four hundred (400) residents are (active) positives and 476 residents are in quarantine. There are over 75 residents (active) positives and 100 residents quarantined in Catskill alone. The following link will direct you to the section of Greene County’s website where you can find this information: https://www.greenegovernment.com/response-to-the-2019-novel-coronavirus-covid-19-in-greene-county-ny

Secondly, our 10-month instructional staff will work virtually from home. 10-month essential staff will be contacted by their supervisor to report to work. All 12-month staff will report to the District.

CTE, Heavy Equipment and New Visions students are permitted to continue with their in-person programming. Door to door transportation will be provided to students who attend the CTE and Heavy Equipment programs. Transportation for New Visions students will continue as normal.

Nevertheless, we anticipate a return to in-person hybrid instruction on Tuesday, January 19, 2021. The District will be closed on Monday, January 18, 2021 in observance of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. The Annual Dr. King March is postponed until further notice. I will continue to monitor all COVID related data and provide updates as often as possible so that you can plan accordingly.

Lastly, it is imperative that you continue to communicate with us regarding any quarantines and / or positive COVID cases that may occur in your household. You can convey this information to your child’s principal or school nurse. Their contact information is listed below.
