Fortnightly Club Donates to CES Reading Program

Special thanks to The Fortnightly Club of Catskill, a regular supporter of Catskill Elementary School’s Reading Is Fundamental (RIF) program. Pictured left to right are CES assistant principal Stacey Connor, Fortnightly Club member and CES teacher Lisa Borgen, who is presenting a check to RIF coordinator and CES teacher Kim Jones, and CES principal John Rivers. The RIF program provides books to all CES students for free. The money that is donated goes to purchase books for our students to take home and enjoy, which we distribute several times per year. Thanks to generous donations from local organizations such as the Fortnightly Club, Catskill Elementary PTA, and Catskill Teachers Association, CES has been able to keep this program alive and well long after federal funding for it was cut. Kids gaining a love of reading is important, and thanks to our community, Cats can and Cats will!
