Students Help Bring Mental Health Issues Out of the Darkness

The Catskill High School “Yellow Ribbon” Teen Suicide Prevention Team has been advocating for suicide prevention and awareness for more than 20 years and was given the honor of hosting this year’s Columbia-Greene Out of the Darkness Campus Walk due to their dedication to this important cause. This community walk took place October 19 at the Catskill High School track. It was part of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention’s (AFSP) signature student fundraising series, designed to engage youth and young adults in the fight to prevent suicide, the third leading cause of death among people ages 15-24.

Students, staff and others walked side-by-side to raise funds, show support, and highlight the importance of mental health and wellness. Together they raised $652.00 for the cause, well over their goal!
