Gold, Silver, Chapter of the Year for Catskill FCCLA

Congratulations to our Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) chapter, who excelled at the NYS FCCLA Leadership Conference held March 22-24 in Callicoon, NY. Along with playing a leadership role at the conference, our FCCLA, which includes both high school and middle school students, received the Outstanding Chapter of the Year award and brought home seven gold awards and one silver award!

This student-led conference was planned and implemented by the 2022-23 NYS FCCLA Executive Board under the leadership of Catskill High School student Christopher Konsul as President. The two-day conference was attended by 175 students from around the state. FCCLA members used the skills they learned in their Family and Consumer Science classes to compete in Students Take Action with Recognition (STAR) events, which provide members with an opportunity to demonstrate their proficiency and achievement in chapter and individual projects, leadership skills, and career preparation.

Below are Catskill’s results for the STAR events:

Gold Awards:
Leon Hong: Focus on Children
Liam Mariani: Chapter Service Project
Louise Kieraldo: Nutrition and Wellness
Melody Stupplebeen: Cake Decorating
JeDavia McGriff: Thematic Table Setting
Brooke Schumacher: Thematic Table Setting
