Catskill High School’s Art Club took a field trip to the Albany Institute of History and Art to view the many exhibits there, including the museum’s Hudson River School permanent collection and the current exhibits of fashion, tulips, and the watercolors of Hudson River School artists William and Sara Hart.
Students spent time perusing the exhibits and drawing the sculptures. As the oldest museum in the United States, the Institute exhibits collections that revolve around local history, art, and artists as well as the culture of the Upper Hudson Valley region with a focus on historical events that have impacted our community.
Students got to tour the exhibit, sketch, and enjoy a walk to the park where they ate lunch. The history and art tie nicely into lessons and work the students are doing in school.
