Allow us to introduce you to Daniel DiSotto, Catskill Elementary School’s new assistant principal. Mr. DiSotto joins Catskill with over 15 years of classroom teaching experience that spans kindergarten through fifth grade and a proven track record of leadership as the athletic director and curriculum coordinator for the Wynantskill Union Free School District. He also has extensive experience with developing young athletes as a baseball, soccer, and wrestling coach.
DiSotto says he was attracted to Catskill Elementary because of its diverse population and the great things he has heard about the school and community. “I’ve learned there is a lot of pride, a lot of involvement from the community, and a lot of great educators here who I’m looking forward to working with,” DiSotto said. “I want to build good, strong relationships with our community and staff, and be a positive influence to our kids, someone they can look up to and who brings a positive energy to school with him every day. If you have a positive relationship with a student you can get them to walk through fire with you.”
When not at school, DiSotto enjoys spending time with his wife, their two elementary-age daughters, and the family’s dog, a Maltese Shi Tzu. He’s also a huge Buffalo Bills fan and likes to travel, especially to visit family in Florida.
DiSotto holds NYS certifications as a school building leader, school district leader, and elementary teacher. He has a certificate of advanced study in educational leadership from SUNY Stony Brook, with a master’s degree in science in literacy education and a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from SUNY New Paltz.
The Board of Education appointed DiSotto to replace former assistant principal Stacey Connor, who became Catskill Elementary School’s principal this July. Please join us in welcoming Mr. DiSotto to the Catskill Central School District administrative team!
