Check out this video highlighting Steve Hartman’s visit to Melissa Seaburg’s fourth-grade classroom at Catskill Elementary School! Mr. Hartman is a national CBS News correspondent known for the moving stories he presents in his weekly feature segment “On the Road.” With the help of his two children, Meryl and Emmett, Hartman also hosts “Kindness 101,” which airs weekly on “CBS Mornings.”
As one of our teachers, Ms. Seaburg values the importance of creating a classroom community based on kindness, character, and respect. She has been using Mr. Hartman’s videos and other “Kindness 101” resources in her classroom for several years.
When CBS producers caught wind that Ms. Seaburg’s students watch Mr. Hartman’s segments every week, they contacted her and arranged for a surprise visit from Mr. Hartman, Meryl and Emmett on September 23!
“They were shocked when he walked in the door,” Ms. Seaburg said. “This was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that I think they will remember for the rest of their lives.”
While there, Mr. Hartman talked to the class about what he does, and he, Meryl, and Emmett answered all kinds of questions from the students. Their visit to CES will also be featured in an upcoming segment that will air October 18 on “CBS Mornings.” Be sure to watch!
