Check out this watercolor that we recently acquired as a gift. It depicts the Grandview Elementary School in Catskill, which used to stand on Rt. 9W in the area where Walgreen’s now is. The painting belonged to Joan Steenburn, who worked in the food service department at the school from 1970-1992. Grandview art teacher Sharon Quinn gave the painting to Ms. Steenburn as a retirement gift in 1992. This September, her daughter, Maureen Steenburn Tate, came across the painting while cleaning out her mother’s house. Ms. Tate, who herself is a former Catskill CSD teaching assistant, decided to gift it to the District and we couldn’t be more excited to have it!
