Update on After-school Incident at Secondary Campus

February 28, 2025

Dear Catskill Central School District Community,

I am writing to provide an update regarding the incident on the secondary campus that I informed you about in Wednesday’s communication.

As a follow-up, we regret to inform you that a high school student is alleged to have displayed a knife in a threatening manner to two other students in the high school parking lot after school hours.

Thankfully, no injuries were sustained during this unfortunate incident, and the situation was swiftly addressed. We want to express our sincere thanks to the Catskill Police Department for their quick and thorough response, as well as their ongoing support.

The student involved is being held accountable according to our District’s Code of Conduct and local law enforcement has taken appropriate legal action.

Safety is our top priority, and we want to reassure our community that this type of behavior is completely unacceptable. It will not be tolerated within our schools, on our campuses, or at school events. We are committed to maintaining a secure and supportive environment for all of our students, and we will continue to work closely with our school resource officers and local law enforcement to ensure the safety and well-being of everyone in the Catskill Central School District.

Thank you for your continued partnership in ensuring a safe and positive learning environment.

Sincerely,

Dr. Dan
