Board Adopts 2025-26 School Budget Proposal

The Catskill Central School District Board of Education adopted the proposed budget for the 2025-2026 school year at its April 22 meeting. The school budget totals $49,619,679 and carries a 2 percent tax levy increase, which is under the 3.98 percent limit set by the NYS property tax cap. Spending is up a total of $188,682, a 0.38 percent increase from the 2024-25 budget.

Budget highlights include no cuts to staffing or student programs, as well the addition of an English as a new language teacher and additional resources for pre-k to meet increased need. School officials sought efficiency measures and applied $2,896,603 in fund balance and $739,972 in reserves to offset year-to-year cost increases and reduce the tax levy increase to 2 percent.

You can learn more at a public hearing on the budget, scheduled for May 7, 2025 at 6:00 p.m. in the Catskill High School library.
