The Catskill Central School District and the Town of Catskill are proud to announce the award of two grants that will make an exciting summer field trip to the WildPlay Element Park at Thacher State Park possible for local students.
Catskill Town Supervisor Patrick Mcand Catskill Superintendent of Schools Dr. Dan Wilson collaborated to submit grant applications aimed at providing students with meaningful outdoor learning experiences during the summer months. Thanks to their efforts, students enrolled in the Town of Catskill’s Summer Recreation Program and the Catskill Elementary School Summer School Program will enjoy a fully-funded adventure at Thacher Park on July 23 and 24.
The field trip is supported by two key grants:
- Connect Kids to Parks Field Trip Grant: Submitted by the Catskill Central School District, this grant—administered through the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation—provides up to $10,360.00 to cover transportation costs for the trip.
- Catskill Community Center Grant: Submitted by the Town of Catskill, this grant awards $5,000 to fund admission for 150 students to the WildPlay adventure park.
- “These grants demonstrate the power of collaboration and our shared commitment to creating enriching opportunities for our students,” said Dr. Wilson. “We’re grateful to our community partners and state agencies for helping bring this experience to life.”
