Each school year, the Catskill High School Art Club looks forward to a special event to celebrate all that they have accomplished. This year, Art Club decided to go to the Albany Institute of History. At the museum, the students took a self-tour of the exhibits, including the standing Hudson River School of Art exhibit in the rotunda and an interactive activity exploring Abstract Art. Before heading home, they enjoyed lunch outdoors in city and took a walk around the NYS Capitol.
All year, the Art Club created team-based projects for the community. These include a cat sculpture for the Cat’n Around Catskill community summer exhibit (find theirs at WellNow Urgent Care), tiles and coasters for the firefighters at the FASNY Firefighter’s Home in Hudson, and artwork for display at the Acceptance Alliance Club’s Polar Express movie night. They also created the numbers for the Class of 2026 Top 10 (as they do every year).
“They’re a fantastic group, each one of them, gifted in their own way,” said Art Club advisor Wendy Doney.
