Bethany Wynne, a guest educator from the Thomas Cole National Historic Site, visited our studio art classes at CHS to share a lesson on painters Thomas Cole and Georgia O’Keeffe. The classes explored the ties these two artists had to the landscape, in particular to trees, and then every student created a tree painting using natural walnut ink. Our student’s paintings will be on display at the Cole House in Catskill this Saturday, October 4 from 1-3 pm, part of the National Historic Site’s celebration of the 200th year since Thomas Cole first came to America to paint. There will be ice cream and snacks along with the display and all are invited to attend!Â
