Paul Brown is married to Ruth Brown and has been married forty-four years. Ruth Brown is the local seamstress and doing business as “The Sewing Place” which is co-located at Cats Rental. Mr. Brown is the father of six children, all of which graduated from Catskill High School. Three children were valedictorians, and all were in the national honor society. He is a Vietnam era veteran and served in the United States Army. He is a qualified airborne soldier and a qualified Special Forces (Green Beret) soldier serving in the 5th Special Forces Group and was stationed at Fort Bragg, NC for most of his time in the army. He has practiced judo for most of his life and is where he met his wife. Both hold the rank of black belt.
After leaving the military, Mr. Brown earned his degree in computer science working as a programmer/analyst and network engineer for fifteen years. Mr. Brown started the first dialup internet company in Greene County, which at one point employed eight employees. Later an opportunity opened to start another company, Cats Rental, where he currently is employed.
Mr. Brown previously served on the Catskill School Board for one term of five years. During his time on the school board the new elementary school was approved for construction and was involved in planning several major capital improvement projects for the middle school and the high school. While on the school board, he was engaged in ways to save taxpayers money and to protect the education of the students enrolled. Mr. Brown is a strong advocate for children with needs, he supports the pedagogical methods of education for BOCES (Questar), traditional model education, music and arts programs and enrichment programs for the gifted.
Mr. Brown is a fiscal conservative who wants to provide an education the community can afford, while also protecting taxpayers from an overbearing burden of educational costs. He is a huge supporter of a solid physical fitness program for students at every level of ability.
Mr. Brown can hit the road running as a board member and is not afraid to question the status quo.
