CHS Adaptive PE Classes Explore North Lake State Park

Catskill High School Adapted PE classes enjoyed a fall hike at North-South Lake State Park, where students explored the area’s historical significance, practiced hiking skills, and enjoyed fellowship with their peers.

The classes took in the views of Kaaterskill Falls from the observation deck before continuing to the historic Catskill Mountain House site. There, students learned about the area’s history while admiring the autumn colors. Students pointed out familiar landmarks, including Story’s Farm and the Rip Van Winkle Bridge.

For some students, this was their first visit to North Lake, making the trip a special opportunity to discover a new area and learn about local history. Students also developed important outdoor skills by learning how to follow trail markers and navigate with a map.
