Catskill High School Senior Livie Beck was sworn in at last week's Board of Education meeting as this year's student board member.
"I want to serve on the Board of Education so I can help students' voices be heard," said Livie. "I think it's extremely important that the student body has a representative because the things that are discussed during those meetings will directly affect me and my peers. I want to use my voice to help create fairness and advocate for those who are too afraid to speak up."
"We are very excited to have Livie join the Board of Education," said Superintendent of Schools Mr. Juanit Shah. "Student voice is an important part of our school community, and we look forward to hearing Livie’s insights and perspectives as she serves as a voice for her fellow students.”
The student board member serves as a voice for the student body, engages with the school community, and takes part in civic engagement that will help prepare them for life beyond school.
