Coager Named Interim Middle School Principal

Annie CoagerThe Catskill Central School District Board of Education has appointed Annie Coager as the interim principal of Catskill Middle School for the 2024-25 school year, effective July 1. Ms. Coager has worked in education for 15 years, 12 as an English teacher and three as an assistant principal, the last two of which being at Catskill Middle School.

“Obtaining this position means a lot to me for multiple reasons,” Coager said. “As a resident and parent, I truly enjoy serving the Catskill community. Additionally, I personally have a 7th grader, so I truly understand the dynamics of a middle school student from both an educational perspective and parental perspective.”

Her goals for the Middle School include relationship building with students, staff, and parents, providing a strong positive culture and climate, and continuing to support faculty and instructional practices.

“Students remember relationships. Students will always remember the people who believed in them. They will always remember who cared,” she said.

Coager is a graduate of Stony Brook University’s Educational Leadership program and is certified as a school building and district leader. In addition to earning her master’s degree in teaching from Bard College, she completed an advanced study in special education. As an undergraduate, she attended the College of Saint Rose, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in literature and studied psychology. She also studied American Sign Language.

Outside of work, Coager is an avid athlete. She trains in Muay Thai and enjoys running. She has two children, both boys, and lives in the District.

She succeeds former CMS interim principal David Proper, who was contracted to serve as interim principal for the 2023-24 school year.
