Important Information from Dr. Cook: CHS Shifts to Remote Learning January 6, 2022

January 5, 2022

Dear Catskill High School Families,

I am writing to inform you that Catskill High School will shift to virtual (remote) instruction, effectively immediately, through Friday, January 14, 2022. The reason for the shift to remote instruction is a high number of positive cases being reported at the high school and the shift applies to CHS students only.

In order to allow our staff time to prepare, the high school only will operate on a two-hour delay tomorrow, Thursday, January 6.

The elementary and middle schools will continue to operate in-person on their normal schedules.

We anticipate the high school returning to in-person instruction on Tuesday, January 18, 2022, following the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday.

There will be no transportation to Questar III BOCES on Thursday and Friday this week, our goal is to resume transportation to these programs on Monday, January 10, 2022. Transportation for New Visions and Tech Valley will continue as normal.

All staff assigned to the high school will report to work on their regular schedule to prepare for tomorrow.

Athletic practices and competitions will be able to continue as planned due to the fact that our coaches and student-athletes undergo regular testing in order to participate.

The CHS 2-hour delay schedule for Thursday, January 6 is as follows. Students, please be sure to log in to your classes on time!

Period 1 9:35-10:09 AM
Period 2 10:12-10:40 AM
Period 3 10:43-11:11 AM
Period 4 11:14-11:42AM
Period 5 11:45-12:13 PM
Period 6 12:16-12:44 PM
Period 7 12:47-1:15 PM
Period 8 1:18-1:46 PM
Period 9 1:49-2:17 PM

Students will log in to their classes as they did last year. They can use a Chromebook or log in to their Google account and use a Chrome browser on another device. Students should also check their email for further instruction from their teachers.

Students can find Google Meet codes here…

Students DO NOT have to log in to Academic Seminars or Lunch.

If you are in need of a Chromebook, please call the High School at (518) 943-2300 and we can assist.

In closing, we thank you for your continued support and understanding. Please keep your children home if they are ill. If you are in need of a test kit, please contact my office at 518-943-4696 to make arrangements to receive one.

As  always, we will keep you updated as to any changes.

Sincerely,

Dr. Ronel Cook
