It’s no yarn – Catskill Central Schools had two cats in this year’s Cat’s Meow Gala and Auction that sold for a total of $2,000! The annual auction, held this year on September 21, is organized by The Heart of Catskill Association and proceeds go to support the community.

Catskill Elementary School’s “Cattails,” which sports a pond motif and which every student in kindergarten through fifth grade lent a hand painting, sold for $900. Catskill High School’s “Catical Illusions,” a swirling optical endeavor that involved the combined talents of 21 students, gaveled out at $1,200. Both cats went to live with their new owner, a buyer from Pearl River, NY.

Art teacher Wendy Doney and Dr. Cook, our superintendent of schools, were at this well-attended event to support our students and community alongside people from all over the area.

We look forward to seeing what Catskill students have in store for next year’s Cat’n Around Catskill celebration! The High School is already working on their next cat for the 2020 exhibition! Any high school student interested can help with the cat to experience the process and earn community service credit.
