Read Across America Day at CES

Nothing gets kids interested in reading more than a great story. On Dr. Seuss’ birthday, which is March 2, CES participated in the National Education Association’s Read Across America Day, which celebrated literacy at our school by bringing in special guests to read to our students.

The event was organized by CES reading teachers Kim Jones and Nicole Pickle (Thing One and Thing Two, respectively), shown here with retired state trooper and guest reader Chris Quin (left) and principal John Rivers (center).

CES enjoyed sixteen volunteers from the community who stopped by and read some exciting books to students in every grade. There were many stories by Dr. Seuss, of course, and books by other children’s authors as well.

Guest readers included folks like Lt. Frascello from the Catskill Police Department (pictured here reading Green Eggs & Ham) and Greene County Legislator Gene Hattan (pictured with top hat and scarf) who brought along a copy of Duck’s Vacation. Thanks go out to all our guest readers!

Now go read a book!
