Student Govt. Thanks Community for Supporting Santa’s Helpers

On behalf of the entire CHS faculty, staff and student body we would like to thank the community for their outstanding support for the 2018 Santa’s Helpers drive. Our thanks to the local businesses that allowed our students to collect money outside their doors: Special thanks to the army of CHS students, who worked in 2 hour shifts from November 16th-18th in the cold and snowy weather.

We would like to extend a special thank you this year to The Catskill Village Board and The Catskill Fire Department for their help, without which we would have never reached the amount collected that we did.

The students collected nearly $9000 which was fantastic considering that we were unable to collect on Thursday 11/15 because of inclement weather. We are able to make food baskets to feed 60 families. The groceries for the baskets were purchased from Slater’s in Cairo at a 20% discount, in addition Slater’s donated the use of a rental truck to deliver the food to the school. Story’s Farms also donated 60 five-pound bags of potatoes for our needy families. As taxpayers, educators, and alumni of Catskill it is encouraging that the Santa’s Helpers tradition continues after more than 60 years. We look forward to another 60 years in this community that continues to give back.

Respectfully Submitted,
