Congratulations to our Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) chapter, who excelled at the NYS FCCLA Leadership Conference held March 22-24 in Callicoon, NY. Along with playing a leadership role at the conference, our FCCLA, which includes both high school and middle school students, received the Outstanding Chapter of the Year award and brought home seven gold awards and one silver award!
This student-led conference was planned and implemented by the 2022-23 NYS FCCLA Executive Board under the leadership of Catskill High School student Christopher Konsul as President. The two-day conference was attended by 175 students from around the state. FCCLA members used the skills they learned in their Family and Consumer Science classes to compete in Students Take Action with Recognition (STAR) events, which provide members with an opportunity to demonstrate their proficiency and achievement in chapter and individual projects, leadership skills, and career preparation.

Leon, Liam and Louise all qualified for the National FCCLA Leadership Conference and STAR Events July 2-6 in Denver, CO.
Also during the conference, Catskill student Alexandra Hallam sang the National Anthem at the opening ceremony, presented a workshop on State Meeting 101, and was a voting delegate. At the closing ceremony, Christopher finished his leadership role and Catskill student Madison Breunig-Smith was installed as the new NYS FCCLA Vice President of Competitive Events and National Programs for 2023-24.
