Article Features CHS Teacher’s Green Chemistry Practices

Catskill High School science teacher Stefanie Loomis was recently featured in a Beyond Benign news article about how her move to green chemistry teaching practices has made our school a safer place. The practice of green chemistry seeks to reduce or eliminate the use and creation of hazardous chemicals.

Mrs. Loomis is a lead teacher in the Beyond Benign Green Chemistry Lead Teacher Program, part of the NYS Master Teacher Program, through which she works at the regional level to further green chemistry education as a workshop leader, conference presenter, and curriculum writer. She has been applying green chemistry here at CHS for many years, updating lesson plans and finding ways to make science labs safer for our students and staff.
