Message from Dr. Wilson About October 6 Secure Lock Out

October 6, 2023

Dear Catskill Central School District Families,

Today at approximately 12:50 p.m., Catskill High School received notice of a potential threat. At that time the District followed our safety protocols and put all three of our schools in a “Secure Lock Out.” The District worked in collaboration with the Catskill Police Department to investigate and it was determined that STUDENTS WERE NOT IN DANGER. At approximately 1:17 p.m. the “Secure Lock Out” was lifted. In a “Secure Lock Out,” outdoor activities are canceled or brought inside and extra vigilance is placed on securing the building to the outside, but otherwise the school day continues indoors uninterrupted. While we cannot provide you with details pertaining to the investigation, we want to assure you that the safety, security and wellbeing of our students are our priority and we take all reports seriously.

Sincerely,

Dr. Dan Wilson
Superintendent of Schools
