Message from Dr. Wilson Regarding CHS Student Walkout

March 1, 2024

Dear Catskill Community,

Today during ninth period, a number of students at the high school conducted a walkout as a peaceful protest to a personnel matter that the District is currently investigating. The students involved in the walkout conducted themselves in a calm and respectful manner. Classes continued uninterrupted for those students who remained in the building. During the walkout, we had school staff and local law enforcement on hand to supervise the event and ensure the students’ safety. Our students having a voice and being heard is an important aspect of Catskill Central Schools and no students were disciplined as a result of the walkout.

While we are aware of rumors and speculation surrounding the issue the walkout was in protest of, any personnel matters are confidential and therefore the District is not at liberty to discuss the specifics of the investigation. As the investigation continues, our number-one priority remains the personal safety and well being of our students.

Sincerely,

Dr. Dan Wilson
Superintendent of Schools
