Please welcome Catskill Elementary School’s new assistant principal, Stacey Connor, to Catskill Central School District. Ms. Connor comes to Catskill from the Schalmont Central School District, where she was a special education teacher. While there, she served as a member of the Strategic Planning Committee and Curriculum & Instruction Development Committee, and orchestrated numerous cross-curricular learning opportunities that blended technology, literacy, and real-world experiences to broaden students’ perspectives and allow them to discover their passions.
“I’m a community-focused person and am already making an effort to connect with the great things this area has to offer,” Connor said. “I’m really looking forward to working with our students, faculty, and families and building partnerships with the Catskill community.”
She holds dual certification as a school building leader and school district leader, and earned a certificate of advanced study in school leadership from the Leadership Academy at Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts. She also holds a master’s degree in childhood literacy from the College of St. Rose and a pair of bachelor’s degrees from SUNY Plattsburgh, one in special education and the other in childhood education.
She and her husband, John, have three children; their oldest, McKenna is in 4th grade, their middle child, Jack, is now a 2nd grader, and Declan, their youngest, is entering Kindergarten. When not at school, you’ll most likely find Connor on the sidelines of her local lacrosse field, as all three of her kids play the sport, or in her workshop pursuing her passion for refinishing wood furniture (she’s currently working on a credenza).
Connor replaces former CES assistant principal Lisa Schlenker, who retired at the end of the 2020-21 school year.
