VFW Donates to CES, Cats Care Room

Special thanks to the Sullivan-Teator Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 770 in Catskill for their generous donation to our school. Post 770 representatives Nicole Borgen, Jim Stalker, Jason Borgen, and Maria Rothrock stopped by Catskill Elementary School on February 14 to drop off stacks of patriotic coloring books and crayons for our students in grades 3-5, and much-needed supplies for our Cats Care Room. They are pictured here in the Cats Care Room with CES school social worker Ella Kessel and principal John Rivers.

The Cats Care Room provides school essentials to CCSD families in times of need. Included in the VFW’s care package were in-demand items like headphones, lunch boxes, crayons, pens, notepads, and folders.

Giving back to the community is one of their Post’s missions, the veterans said.

“When I was in Iraq in 2009 and 2010 I received letters from the kids. I remember that very vividly and wanted to return the favor, as well as help out the community,” Mr. Borgen explained.

Thanks also go out to J&J Smokehouse BBQ, Sawyer Chevrolet, Burger King, and Mid-Hudson Cable for cosponsoring VFW Post 770’s donation. Together with our community, Cats can and Cats will!
