Yellow Ribbon Visits CMS

Catskill High School’s Yellow Ribbon Teen Suicide Prevention Team was at Catskill Middle School on March 26 and 27 to lead suicide awareness and prevention training for all CMS students during their physical education classes. Team members led the middle schoolers through several interactive stations they designed to reinforce the message that suicide is 100% preventable and help is always available simply by asking for it. As part of this discussion, they gave each student a Lifeline Card that can be handed to any other person to ask for help – without ever having to actually say the words. Team members also talked about the warning signs of suicide and how to help someone who is in crisis.

Our Yellow Ribbon Team is a student-led, all-volunteer organization that undergoes specialized training prior to hosting these sessions, which they lead each year at both our high school and middle school. Cats can and Cats will!
