2026 Board Election

On May 19, Catskill Central School District voters elected Michael Dedrick, Paul Brown, Charles Holtz, and Brooke Borel to the Board of Education.

May 29, 2026 voting results:

Catskill Central School District 2026-27 Budget: PASSED 444 yes – 125 no

Catskill Public Library proposition: PASSED 439 yes – 131 no

Board of Education Candidates:

Michael Dedrick: 410 – Elected to three-year term running July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2029

Paul Brown: 347 – Elected to three-year term running July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2029

Charles Holtz: 353 – Elected to three-year term running July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2029

Brooke Borel (write-in candidate): 91 – Elected to two-year term running May 20, 2026 through June 30, 2028

Candidates

There were three candidates running for four open seats on the Catskill Central School District Board of Education. Any seat could also be filled by a write-in candidate. The candidates’ names appeared on the ballot in the following order, as determined by a random drawing of names:

The three highest-vote getters were elected to three-year terms running July 1, 2026 – June 30, 2029.

The fourth-highest-vote getter filled the remainder of the unexpired term left vacant by the resignation of Junait Shah, running May 20, 2026 – June 30, 2028.

There were four seats up for election on the Board of Education

  • The expiring term of Michael Dedrick (July 1 2023 – June 30, 2026)
  • The expiring term of Ryan Osswald – Charles Holtz appointed to vacancy (July 1, 2023 – June 30, 2026)
  • The expiring term of Joseph Izzo – Paul Brown appointed to vacancy (July 1, 2023 – June 30, 2026)
  • The unexpired term of Junait Shaw – vacant (July 1, 2025 – June 30, 2028)

Voter Qualifications

To be eligible to vote you must be:
• A citizen of the United States 18 years of age or older
• A resident of the Catskill Central School District for a period of 30 days or more directly preceding the date of the vote
• Registered to vote with either the School District or the Greene County Board of Elections

Voter Registration

You must be registered with either the County Board of Elections or the Catskill Central School District to vote on the School Budget and Board of Education Election. The voters of the District have approved a system of walk-in voter registration, available Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on days when the District Offices at the District Clerk’s Office, 343 West Main Street, Catskill, NY.

Early Voting & Absentee Ballots

Applications for early voting by mail or absentee ballots may be applied for at the Office of the Board Clerk, 343 West Main Street, Catskill, New York. Applications for early voting/absentee ballots must be received by the Board Clerk at least seven days prior to the election and vote if the ballot is to be mailed to the voter, or the day before the election if the ballot will be picked up personally by the voter at the Office of the Board Clerk.
